Whether you a competent advanced or a first time skier, our 105km of rolling terrain, exceptional grooming, professional coaching, and comprehensive camp program give you an inspiring Nordic experience. | Animated Flipbooks | Ages 7-10 @ The Vernon Community Arts Centre Level: Beginner Get started making cartoons move! This fun workshop introduces kids to the concepts of hand drawn animation using a variety of early motion picture techniques. Led by Amanda Homeniuk, a professional stop-motion animator and using only pencils, markers and our imagination, we will have fun flipping and spinning paper to watch our simple shapes and characters come to life. This is a great way to build basic animation skills like drawing, colouring and storytelling, and introduces important concepts such as timing and movement. | What Do I Do With...? Panel Discussion @ The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives Are you downsizing? Are you decluttering? Have you inherited family items but have no room? Do you want to find an appreciative home for your family objects? The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives is bringing together their museum registrar and archivist, an antique dealer and a lawyer in a panel discussion called “What do I do with…?” on January 13th to discuss your options. The Museum registrar, Jesslyn Jarvis, and archivist, Barbara Bell, will address what the Vernon Museum, as well as what different museums look for, the process and options for donating, as well as tax implications for donations. Taylor Saunders from Heirloom Antiques will address the options for selling your items and Ian Hawes from Davidson Pringle will discuss the legal ramifications and how estate law comes into play. They will also be able to help answer questions. The discussion will run from 2:00-3:30pm on January 13th at the Vernon Museum. Cost is $5 at the door to attend. | Musical Electric Keyboard | Ages 5 & Up @ The Vernon Community Arts Centre Level: Beginner These individual lessons are an introduction to reading music, learning about melody, rhythm, the beat, and to play by ear. Students will have fun and quickly learn how to play the electric keyboard using both hands with accompanying rhythm and chords. Beginners and those who have taken music lessons before are welcome. Family and friends are invited to attend the student recital at the conclusion of the class. Students can choose either 30 minute or 1 hour long lessons. Sheet music is included in the class cost. | NOCCA Presents Cheng2 Duo @ Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Named by CBC Music as one of 2015's "30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30", the sibling duo is formed by 18-year-old cellist Bryan Cheng, a guest soloist with numerous orchestras since his debut at age 10 in Montréal under the baton of Yuli Turovsky. Silvie and Bryan Cheng have been making music together for the past 13 years. In 2011, when they were called upon to replace an injured musician for a scheduled recital in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, they officially became known as Cheng2 Duo.
