Puzzles and Games Club @ The Okanagan Science Centre
Grades 4 - 6
Members: $95 + gst; Non-members: $120 + gst

Does your child have a fear of math? Does it seem he or she gives up on math problems without really giving them a try? Are you sometimes unsure how to help?

This after school club is designed to build a child's confidence in math by making math fun. Club members learn math by playing games and puzzles in a supportive environment. The games and puzzles are selected to both teach fundamental concepts and skills needed to succeed in math, and also to give children that sense of mastery - "I can do this!"

The club curriculum was developed in conjunction with School District 22, to make sure we are helping children master those areas they are most likely to struggle with in school. And the club includes one evening for parents to come and get suggestions on how to talk to, encourage, and help their children gain confidence and succeed in math.

Stephen Fearing Trio with Oh Susanna @ Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre
Stephen Fearing was born in 1963 in Vancouver, British Columbia and grew up in Dublin, Ireland where his schoolmates included future members of U2. In 1981, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and immersed himself in the music scene, learning the fundamentals of song writing and performing, while washing dishes to stay alive.
Oh Susanna:
This Canadian songstress has a voice that can pierce a heart of stone. Her superbly crafted songs often tell stories of troubled souls who rebel against their circumstances to attain a quiet dignity. These are tales of longing and love, of small town joys and pains, of our simple feelings and strong passions. These are tales that look into our beautifully flawed human hearts.
