Diwali in Vernon Festival: Yin Yoga Class @ Soul Studio
A more passive approach to yoga. The postures are held for longer periods which allows for deeper opening into the connective tissues. This is a popular option for tight sore bodies and for yoga beginners, due to the slower pace. Yin yoga offers both physical and meditative benefits. It is a wonderful compliment to a more active “yang like” exercise regimen.

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents, through partnership with Diwali in BC, the inaugural Diwali in Vernon Festival! Running Tuesday, October 9 through to Saturday, October 13, 2018, the Festival will host a variety of multicultural activities around Vernon, culminating in a showcase at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, October 13 at 7:00pm. Writing Through Grief with Janelle Hardy @ Caetani Cultural Centre
Writing Through Grief is about witnessing and allowing for the full range of feelings that come with loss.
It’s hard to grieve fully and deeply when grieving is not honoured or supported, and when the people and culture around you feel so uncomfortable with your feelings and their own. How do we grieve when we’ve never seen anyone go through a healthy grieving process? How do we grieve when we can’t cry around our loved ones? How do we grieve when we don’t know how?
Writing Through Grief is a discovery of the beauty that comes on the other side of grief. The sparkling moments of joy and connection, all of which are only possible because of the grieving that has been done – the crying of tears, the anger, the sadness, the acceptance of how unfair life can be. It is through honouring our grief that we come to understand and honour our joy better.
In this series we’ll use a writing circle format with creative writing prompts to explore and move through your grief in a deep, kind and joyful way.

100 Kids Who Care @ O'Keefe Ranch
100 Kids Who Care Vernon is a group of local youth between the ages of 5 and 17 that get together four times a year and donate $10 of their own money to three member nominated charities that are making a positive impact in our community.  It's about inspiring and enabling youth to make a difference. Let's encourage and empower our kids to make an impact locally and help them to believe they can change the world. Join us at our donation event! This is where your kids get to meet everyone, hear more about the charities they are supporting in our community, and see how they are making a difference! Enjoy a BBQ Lunch, family friendly activities and more on September 18th at Historic O'Keefe Ranch from 5-7pm. For more information please visit: https://www.100kidsvernon.ca/

The Zmeds say, “e are not impersonators, Our aim is to honor the aesthetics of their iconic sound and honor their unique place in music history all while having a little fun telling our own personal story,” and they do just that. Growing up with a father, (Adrian Zmed) as a traveling singer/dancer/actor (Grease 2 Bachelor Party, T.J. Hooker).
The 5 piece band consists of drums (Burleigh Drummond), electric guitar (rotating members), bass (rotating members), and the two singing brothers (Zachary and Dylan Zmed) up front with the signature Everly acoustic guitars.
