Dead Crow Poetry @ Caetani Cultural Centre Studio

Imagine a creature tens of thousands of years old, sent to Earth as a watcher by a shadowy race of gods.

Now imagine that he’s equally capable of appearing as a crow or a human, with the jaded attitude of a film noir detective, and you have the personality profile of a character known as Dead Crow.

As the introductory prose poem to a work-in-progress of narrative poems, the Prologue combines elements of mythology drawn from classical, Celtic and aboriginal sources to create its powerful central character.

To realize this vision Joyce fuses techniques from live theatre, film and a compelling soundtrack written and recorded by composer Noel Fudge.

To introduce the film Joyce will speak about the various literary and aesthetic sources that went into the creation of the character and the poems.

Each year we honour a member of the local community who has been affected by dementia or who has valuably contributed to the lives of people living with the disease in Vernon. This year we honour Margaret Stecyk and family, members of the community who have been affected by dementia.

Margaret Stecyk is living well with dementia. She and her family have all attended Minds in Motion®, the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s social and fitness program for people in the early stages of dementia. “It gives her stability and she loves the exercise,” says Margaret's daughter, Charlene. “It was a real constant in her life when everything else was in upheaval.”

Get your family, friends and colleagues together and join us for an amazing day at the 2019 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s.
